8 New Food 'Rules' To Less Weight

It can get irritating when you've tried all the weight loss regimens and nothing worked. So many it's time to take a different path…

If you're looking for ways to lose weight, here are a few rules you need to live by:

1. Eat less calories. If you are a bit overweight right now, you're probably consuming more than 2,000 calories per day. Try cutting that down to just about 2,000.

2. Eat more vegetables. You can also eat more beans, peas, fruits, whole grains, nuts and seeds. The key is to eat more food from plants.

3. Try the fish. You get heart-healthy omega-3 fats reducing greatly your risk of getting heart trouble.

4. Go low-fat. Drink low- or non-fat dairy milk to limit intake of saturated fats. This is a good way to increase calcium — which we need to strengthen our bones.

5. Go easy on lean meats, poultry and eggs. Moderation is the key.

6. Add less sugar and solid fats. Use less sugar in your coffee and pastries. Use less butter on your bread.

7. Use less salt. Reduce your consumption of sodium.

8. Exercise! Do 75 minutes of aerobic activity spread over three to five days every week.
