Green Leafy Vegetables Against Risk Of Diabetes

A research team from University of Leicester found that people who add more green leafy vegetables to their diet may significantly reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

The said study concluded that eating one and one half servings of green leafy vegetables per day reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes by 14%. Also, the researchers found that combined increased intake of fruits and vegetables doesn't seem to affect this risk.

High concentrations of polyphenols and vitamin C (both have antioxidant properties) in green leafy vegetables is said to be the reason why. Also, green leafy vegetables contain magnesium, — which may further reduce the risk of diabetes.

Findings of the said study are published in the British Medical Journal.
